At some point while my band was on tour in 2015, we came across an Amish farm somewhere in rural New York. And much to our surprise, there seemed to be a full on volleyball tournament happening. There were at least four courts set up and everyone was playing in their traditional Amish garb. It was kind of surreal. I’ve since learned that volleyball is pretty much the main sport the Amish play. This song has absolutely nothing to do with volleyball or Amish culture, but I did try to tap into whatever melancholy feelings that scene made me feel. Most importantly though, this song features my grandmother’s out of tune piano. Oh, and there is definitely a "Lyin' Eyes" homage in this.
