Rainbow Decider - Rachel Gollay

about

On this one you are getting a 1-take Oneder. A guitar, a vocal, Garageband, little USB plug-in interface (Apogee One) that has a marginally better microphone than what’s built into the laptop.

I took the title from a Facebook comment a friend posted that I thought was funny, and decided it could be the basis for a song: a song that urned out to be not funny. Early versions like this are pretty stream of consciousness lyric-wise. I’ve been watching a lot of true crime documentaries lately, and also just the news, so that’s where my head is at when the words bubble up over a chord progression I like.

Process-wise, I send my ideas like this over to my bandmates Russell and Josh to have a listen, and we do some tag-teaming on ideas, parts and arrangements. This track I sent over to Russell who did a quick master on it and added some delay on the vocals, so it got just a lil more TLC than other demos of its kind. Not the full deluxe spa package but at least a nice mani+pedi and an aromatherapy candle.

Where this song goes after this, time will tell, but I’m glad to get it out there in the world in its mostly-raw state.
