I was at Kevin Buchanan's house one day in early 2016 and he showed me these lyrics. He wrote the song verse-chorus, but something about the chorus jumped out at me and seemed to be a perfect start to the song. I sat down with a guitar in front of his Mac and sang and played something catchy but vaguely church camp sounding. We recorded it and forgot it for awhile. We unearthed it in early 17 and both agreed it needed a more flashy melody. I played around with the rhythm of the words a bit, and came up with the cold open that became the final song. I use Music Memos to rework songs because it's quick and easy. In this version, I subbed in Am and Em for C and G which had been there before, because our drummer/producer Tanner said it needed more interest. He is almost always right.
